One of the truths about choosing do study Medicine is that, from the moment you decide to go down that road, you are bombarded with the same question. Why Medicine? You’d think that once you get into the medical school, you’ll never be asked that question ever again, but you are, and many times over and over. And this is such a long question to answer, because I know my reasons required 4,000 characters in my personal statement. So, that gave me the idea, is it possible for it to be answered in just 10 words or less?

I asked current medical students why they chose Medicine in just 10 words, and here’s what they said…

The privilege to heal and solve the mysteries of disease.Being able to understand, help out, help myself, be amazed.Medicine is where science marries art; where research marries creativity.Serving the vulnerable within the community in a tangible way.Medicine is rewarding and eye-opening but simultaneously challenging.
Helping people at their most vulnerable time is a privilege. To increase access to healthcare resources in deprived populations.
To better my life by bettering the lives of others.

Joy of learning how to treat people physically and mentally.

To really understand disease at the molecular/physiological/psychosocial level.

To watch medical knowledge change the trajectory of people's lives.

A lifetime of learning while making a lasting impact.Untitled

I had to do something with my compulsive helper gene.Acience, compassion, teamwork, opportunities, adrenaline - who wouldn't choose Medicine?!

To give people the opportunity for a healthy tomorrow.

To help, to heal, to educate people; the ultimate challenge.

Those of us who required healing, seek to heal others.

To use my passion for Science to make a difference.

Knowing I've made an impact with pursue my life purpose.

A profession where knowledge, power and heart come together.

Untitled

To give strength, hope and a second chance in life.
