6 WEEKS OF WORKING IN A LAB 🔬

I’m really interested in Science, but within Science there’s such a huge variety of careers that you can choose to pursue. My particular interest in healthcare and my desire to work with people are some of the many reasons I have chosen to strive to study Medicine. Medicine is still a Science and therefore it…

This what my planner looks like at the end of the week. I use ticks for tasks I’ve completed, crosses for things I’m no longer going to do and arrows for things that I’ve carried on to the next day. 😊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #motivation #medlife #plannercommunity #medstudent #medschool #medicalstudent #medblogger #medschoollife #stationerylove #study #organisation #inspiration #studying #studyspo #studygram #studyblr #organised #student #stationery #univeristy #plannerlove #flatlay #notebook #desk #notes #studentlife #studynotes #notebook #laptop #floral
Yet to start some work this weekend...😫😭 How do you all motivate yourselves to work during what seems like should be a break?
Here’s the completed embroidery piece I did and I can’t believe how much I enjoyed it! I’ve done bead embroidery before, but never just with thread so that was really interesting to try! I’ve now ordered a whole variety of threads to add to my miniature collection so I can try some more! 🧵 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I just love how relaxing it was! Nowadays I can’t even read a book because my mind wanders and thinks about this, this and this I’ve got to finish off doing, but it was so nice sitting down with the embroidery because I really felt as though I was able to truly switch off (for once!) 😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Can anyone else relate with that feeling with anything? Anyone tried any embroidery before?
The direct dopamine pathway normally allows you to make desired movements, whilst the indirect pathway inhibits unwanted movements.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In disease X, the direct pathway is underactive and the indirect pathway is overactive so you’ll get less voluntary movement, but more involuntary moment. What disease is this?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Notice how my cup is always drained in these photos - can’t let it go cold 😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are you more of a tea or more of a coffee person? ☕️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Start of Semester 4 today! I’m determined to make this semester productive and start it on a positive note despite last semester ending a little pear-shaped.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And yes, that’s Harry Potter in the background because I’ve finally decided to start reading it. I’ve watched the movies, but never got round to reading the books. Have you watched the movies, read the books or done both... (or none)? ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #motivation #medlife #plannercommunity #medstudent #medschool #medicalstudent #medblogger #medschoollife #stationerylove #study #organisation #inspiration #studying #studyspo #studygram #studyblr #organised #student #stationery #univeristy #plannerlove #flatlay #notebook #desk #notes #studentlife #studynotes #notebook
Only 2 days till the next Semester starts. At least we’ll be going back to having normal levels of Anatomy to do this semester - we’re going to be doing the abdomen area. I still can’t believe the volume of Anatomy we had to cover last semester: all of the head and neck and all of the lower limb! The app pictured above is called “Visual Body”, it’s really helpful to help visualise the structures and see them in relation to each other, especially muscles and blood vessels. It allows you to see landmarks on bones and actually see all the movements of each muscle. I keep forgetting that this app exists, so I haven’t used it an insane amount, but when I do use it, it does really help!
Exams are over now so I can take down my unfinished to-dos and relax for a few days before it’s time to get back to the grind on Monday (only 5 days of freedom)! _ After exams there’re 2 types of people (1) those who just want to keep talking about the exam, work out all the mistakes they made up to the point that they calculate the exact grade they got; (2) those who have the “what’s done is done” attitude and just want to forget about it. I have to admit I used to be a (1), but now I’m definitely a (2), I don’t even want to think about the exam at all or be reminded that I even sat some exams! What type are you?
Let’s just say my motivation to keep revising has completely gone...I just want to sleeeeppp! 😫 I’ve got my OSCE this Tuesday and then after that I’ll finally be over with exams (for now anyway)! I feel as though this exam season has just dragged on forever and yet I still have so many things left to do! 😭😭
I’ve got exams starting in 3 days yet I’ve been consistently waking up after 12 - I have no excuses, just so tired all the time 😂 What time did you wake up today?
On a scale of 1-10 how ready are you for your exams (10 being ready to ace it)? 👀 Are any of you lucky enough to have already done them - how did they go?
Seeing as a lot of you enjoyed guessing last time, here’s another one. Can you guess which part of the body these muscles are from? Bonus point if you can guess the combined function of all these muscles... 😊
QOTD: What’s your favourite season? You can tell this photo was taken a few months ago, when the weather was a bit brighter and it was a bit greener outside. 🌿 I don’t mind the cold of Winter so much, it’s more the fact that it’s so dull, grey and gloomy all the time - makes me feel like doing nothing! 😒
Planning my revision 😫 I love how there’s loads of space on my weekly planner so I can write exactly what I want to do in detail for each day - I specifically designed my planners to make the writing area really nice and spacious. 🖊(Having a tiny box to write the plans for the day is a huge pet peeve of mine when it comes to planners)! _ Get yourself a new planner (with a matching to-do-list) to kick off the new year and help keep you organised! ✨ Link in bio to my shop! 🛍
What size notebook do you tend to use? 📒 I tend to always use A5, I like that it’s small enough to carry around easily without having to worry about whether your bag is big enough. The pages are generally the right size for the amount of information I like to have on one page as well ☺️
Just 2 more days and semester 3 is all over - cannot believe how fast it’s flown by! The theme of this semester was “Mind & Movement” and it definitely so much more interesting than the previous ones, now to just worry about the huge volume of content I have to learn before the exams! Anyone got any nice plans for the Christmas break?
Which area of the body are these muscles from? Gold star for anyone who guesses correctly... 😝
Last day of my consolidation week. I made a long list of things that need doing and put them into different categories by highlighting everything in different colours! After today, we just have 2 more weeks of teaching before we break up for Christmas...and then we have EXAMS! How long do you have until your exams? 📝 I’ve been loving all the lovely feedback I’ve been receiving about my planners. You can get the to-do list in the picture above from my shop (linked in bio)! I ship all around the 🌍
I’m going to be putting together a blog post soon listing the different ways I’ve tried to learn Anatomy. I’ve tried a handful of different things, changed up the way I’ve tried to learn it for different topics several times over the course of this year and last year! I’m interested to know what you think the best way is, or what helps you? 🤔 Let me know in the comments below (or DM me) and I may be featuring some of your ideas in the blog! P.S. these cute anatomy pins are from @codexanatomicus❤️
